All VELAIRA pieces are plated using a vacuum electroplating process with real gold — 18K, 22K, or 24K depending on the piece. This technique creates a durable, water-resistant finish that is less likely to tarnish, fade, or cause skin sensitivity compared to standard gold plating.

That said, all plated jewelry benefits from a little care:

• Avoid prolonged soaking in water
• Pat dry if contact with water occurs
• Keep away from perfume, lotion, and harsh chemicals
• Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after wearing
• Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight

◯ Freshwater Pearl

Most VELAIRA pieces feature genuine freshwater pearls unless otherwise stated. Each pearl is naturally grown, which means no two are identical in shape, size, or tone — this is part of their beauty.

For select styles, we use imitation pearls, which will always be noted in the product description. Imitation pearls have a more uniform and bright lustre, but their coating is more susceptible to wear and requires extra care.

To care for your freshwater pearls:

• Wipe with a soft damp cloth after wearing
• Never soak or submerge in water
• Keep away from perfume, hairspray, and chemicals
• Store flat or in a soft pouch, away from other pieces
